Bunny Wunny

This is my second student film created in the Classical Animation program at the Vancouver Film School. This film was put together entirely in Adobe Flash CS3.

Some rough and final designs for the film can be seen here:

Bunny Wunny Designs

Today I finally decided to just get on with it and put one of my student films online. To couple with that, I thought people might be interested in seeing the designs from it so here are the rough designs and final character builds.

The film itself can be seen here:

Iron Giant

This is my submission for the 'Iron Giant Project' being put on by The Labyrinth. It's an art show in honour of the film 'The Iron Giant', a movie that never quite got all of the recognition it deserved. The project's blog is here for anyone else interested http://irongiantproject.blogspot.com/
Be quick! Deadline's Nov. 1st.

Paul Bunyan (In progress)

I thought I'd make another picture for my blog and I'm working on one of Paul Bunyan and his ox named Blue. As you can see, Blue has yet to be added, but Paul Bunyan's there in his boots and flannel, ready for some wood chopping action.

Amazon Comic Strip Superstar Entry

Well, I got eliminated from the comic contest along with my pal Ross. Seeing as he posted his entries online (which are AWESOME for the record, see here: http://distractionlab.com/blog/2009/10/12/amazon-comics-contest/ ) I decided to follow suit. So sprawled across this blog post you will hopefully find all 12 of my entries from the contest. If not all here, then hopefully you will find them somewhere else. Perhaps you will pay me and I will mail them to you in a special 12 part collector's edition with real tin foil wrapping (Oooooooo shiny).

Robot Rock

this is a picture I drew for a friend back home in Ottawa while I was living in Vancouver. I hadn;t posted it on the internet originally because it was intended to be a gift and the internet sort of makes it seem less special since I'm giving it to everybody instead of just the person I drew it for, but I decided to just post it anyway.

Matt Murdock

I've honestly always been a big fan of Daredevil, so much so that I could almost enjoy the steaming pile of cinematic feces that was the Daredevil movie (almost...... almost...............). Anyways, I've been disappointed with his general unpopularity due to his new association with Ben Affleck and decided to draw him. I'm not sure how that's supposed to help with the Ben Affleck problem, but you never know.

Robin

I hadn't drawn any super heroes for a while... and that seemed wrong. So on a whim, I decided to draw Batman's under appreciated boy-toy sidekick Robin. Photoshop colouring's a little rushed but it came out okay.

Character Designs

This is a page I put together for portfolio with a whole bunch of my character designs on it. My personal favourites are the koala in the top right and the two drawings of the girl in the sweater near the bottom right.

At the Zoo

For a while I worked on a bunch of character designs as though I was going to submit them as concepts for an animated series. The series was meant to be set in a zoo, so the characters are all zoo animals. I also included two different zoo keeper designs.

TERROR OF THE DEEP!

I asked someone in my class for an idea of what to draw up in photoshop since I wanted to do a quick illustration before I left and he suggested a giant squid. And so, I drew a giant squid.

Tiptoe, To The WIndow

We had a competition to draw this crazy (but amazing) woman we saw who had a cockatiel on her shoulder and a duck in a pink stroller. This was my entry.

Comical

I have a secret (not really) passion (not the best word, it's more of a casual hobby in reality) for making web comics. Anyways, I thought they're something that perhaps one or two of the one or two people who are likely to read this might enjoy, or be very offended by (just know that either way I'll be pretty proud of it, so don't go trying to make me feel bad).

I'll probably upload a lot more of these in my future blogging, if only because by posting my old comic strips, it creates an illusion of productivity without me really having to put much effort into it at all. Anyways, Enjoy (or hate, it's your choice).

Love
-Mister B.

A Handy Dandy Lifedrawing Portfolio

Hi, I'm Brennan Bova and I'm a soon-to-be-graduate of the Vancouver Film School

We have to make a life drawing portfolio either online or in a hard copy to submit to our teacher at VFS before graduation. As you can see, I chose not to make a hard copy, because I think as an animator I've killed enough trees already, and also I wanted a blog and this seemed like a reasonable excuse to make one.

Below, you will see an assortment of 30 second poses, 2 minute poses, 5 minute poses and a bunch of extra drawings of things like portraits, caricatures, hands and feet, and I also included a few full-body poses since I couldn't remember how long the poses actually were.

Anyways, I hope looking at these sketches of naked people brought you some form of joy, no matter how slight. Or, if you like being angry, I hope that upon reading this you froth at the mouth and collapse into a fit of great anger. If the latter is the case, I look forward to your scathing emails and potentially hearing from your lawyer (...preferably not your lawyer on second thought, because I don't have an intricate legal team which I know many of you will find surprising).

In any case, have a good day, or continue having a miserable one (It's not like reading just 'have a nice day' on it's own would have cheered you up, so I thought I'd be realistic about things).

Much platonic love,
-Mister B.
